Effect of reactant gas flow orientation on the current and temperature distribution in self-heating polymer electrolyte fuel cells

چکیده

Fuel cell polarisation performance is typically reported under controlled/constant temperature conditions, as a sign of robust metrology. However, in practice, fuel cells self-heat they generate current; which varies the across curve and affects performance. More detail regarding internal operation can be gleaned by current distribution mapping. For case an unheated cell, ‘self-heating’ increases improves performance, resulting ‘voltage recovery’ more homogeneous water distribution. actively heated cells, reduced observed regions high low humidity. The positioning gas manifolds also has decisive impact on affecting reactant concentration, humidity Counter- cross-flow orientations self-heating were studied, with counter-flow orientation air flowing gravity producing most uniform • Performance should studied controlled modes. Self-heating PEFCs recovers voltage. Temperature distributions form uneven current, distributions. A could minimise degradation over time. Counter-flow flow gives even

Numerical analysis of reactant transport in the novel tubular polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells

In present work, numerical analysis of three novel PEM fuel cells with tubular geometry was conducted. Tree different cross section was considered for PEM, namely: circular, square and triangular. Similar boundary and operational conditions is applied for all the geometries. At first, the obtained polarization curve for basic architecture fuel cells was validated with experimental data and then...

an investigation of the impact of self monitoring on langauge teachers motivational practice and its effect on learners motivation

the central purpose of this study was to conduct a case study about the role of self monitoring in teacher’s use of motivational strategies. furthermore it focused on how these strategies affected students’ motivational behavior. although many studies have been done to investigate teachers’ motivational strategies use (cheng & d?rnyei, 2007; d?rnyei & csizer, 1998; green, 2001, guilloteaux & d?...

Study of flow and heat transfer characteristics in a periodic zigzag channel for cooling of polymer electrolyte fuel cells

In this study, a periodic zigzag channel with rectangular cross-section has been used in order to obtain a high-efficiency system for cooling a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. An appropriate function of fuel cells and enhancement of their lifetime require uniform temperature conditions of around 80°C. On the other hand, due to volume and weight constraints, a low-density compact heat exchanger i...

Effect of CO in the reformatted fuel on the performance of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) fuel cell

There are several obstacles to the commercialization of PEM fuel cells.  One of the reasons is that the presence of carbon monoxide (CO) in the reformatted fuel, even at a very small scale, decreases the fuel cell performance. The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of CO in reformatted fuel on PEM fuel cell performance. For this purpose, a steady state, one-dimensional and non-isoth...
